STEP 15 - EYESTRAIN

broken image

This type of head tension can be felt as a pressure and feeling of heaviness around

the eyes and forehead. This is often due to uncorrected visual problems, but other causes

should be ruled out. If visual problems are the cause, wearing appropriate glasses or contact lenses will usually resolve this kind of head tension.

Calming and soothing Essential Oils, as well as those that support the eyes, can be beneficial for head tension caused by eyestrain:

  • Clary Sage

  •  Lavender

  • Petitgrain

  • Rose

  • Frankincense

  • Helichrysum

  • Sandalwood

CLARY SAGE is an Essential Oil well known for soothing tired or irritated eyes. In the Middle Ages it was known as “Oculus Christi” (“Eye of Christ”) as well as “Eye Bright” and “Clear Eye” due to its use for clearing mucus from the eyes. “Clary” comes from the Latin “clarus” (“clear”).

This oil is high in esters (linalyl acetate) making it one of the best relaxing, soothing, and calming oils, especially to the skin.

PRACTICAL USES

During your menstrual cycle, rub three to five drops on the abdomen for a soothing massage.

• Combine with Roman Chamomile and add to bath water for a stress-relieving bath.

• Diffuse or apply to pillow at night for a restful sleep.

• Add to shampoo or hair conditioner to promote healthy hair and scalp.

• Combine with Fractionated Coconut Oil to massage, soothe, or rejuvenate skin.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

DIFFUSION: Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.

INTERNAL: Dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid.

TOPICAL USE: Apply one to two drops to desired area. Dilute with Fractionated Coconut Oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.
